Medicare for Everything

Healthcare is an essential right that should be afforded with no cost to working people, yet consecutive governments for decades have allowed Medicare to go without crucial funding, leading to more Aussies having to pay out of pocket expenses for their healthcare.

The Eureka Party supports a radical expansion of Medicare to cover all medically necessary procedures within both public and private healthcare facilities, including quality-of-life procedures like laser eye surgery and some plastic surgeries, with all primary healthcare visits, including GPs, dental visits and mental health support (and more), being fully bulk-billed, and the PBS expanded to fully cover all prescription medicines.

NDIS Absorption into Medicare

The NDIS, offering Australians with disabilities the support they need to live their best lives, has been hijacked and exploited by fraudsters and organised crime resulting in the loss of billions of dollars of waste stolen from NDIS recipients, and yet despite this the government continues to refuse to act sufficiently.

However, the issue with the NDIS is more structural. Why is disability support treated differently to other services like aged care and mental health support which are necessary and yet are not made to function so individualistically with tailored individual funds and locked behind diagnosis tests? This distinction is arbitrary and has harmed Australians with disabilities more than it has helped, particularly those who find themselves in need of disability support and yet are unable to get the necessary support due to a lack of sufficient diagnosis.

The Eureka Party supports the full absorption of the NDIS into Medicare, replacing the diagnosis requirement with access based strictly on the referral of a medical practitioner depending on the demonstrated needs of the individual, and replacing individually assigned funds with unlimited access according to the needs of the individual.

The Eureka Party supports implementing stricter laws to prevent fraudulent claims on undelivered or under-delivered disability support services.

Medicare for Pets

For many Australians, the family pet is considered part of the family just as much as anyone else. Despite this, families are often forced to choose between paying their rent or grocery bill, or paying high vet bills when their pet gets sick. This leads to sadness when faced with the choice and forced to prioritise living expenses over the family pet.

The Eureka Party supports expanding Medicare to include funding for all medically necessary procedures, vaccinations and medications for pets, livestock, and critically injured wildlife.

Mnemonic Rehabilitation Services

The rise of social media services has been one of the best things for global communication in history, connecting friends, family, and everyone else across long distances and national borders. But it has also been one of the most damaging things for individual attention spans and memory retention, as predatory profit-seeking algorithms operate by overdosing the brain on dopamine, causing addiction and a decline in attention span and memory. This damage is most acute in younger generations, with the youngest generations now being raised with screens in a way previous generations were not, leading to short attention spans and reducing learning capacity and motivation in school.

Mnemonic techniques such as memory palaces, narrative encoding, and spatial-associative chaining improve memory retention, can rebuild attention systems, and recover lost cognition caused by addiction.

The Eureka Party supports the introduction and funding through Medicare of mnemonic rehabilitation services for those afflicted with social media addiction and long-term cognitive damage, as well as exploring how mnemonics can assist in other spheres such as disability support and enhancement for those who are neurodivergent, or for protecting against cognitive decline in older Australians.

Unified Medicare Schedule of Benefits

The Eureka Party supports the establishment of a unified Schedule of Benefits to negotiate standardised prices for all private healthcare, disability support, pharmaceutical and veterinary services covered by the expanded Medicare.
