Increased Whistleblower Protections

Whistleblowers often find themselves afraid to come out, out of fear of losing jobs or being imprisoned, and this can only serve to undermine public faith in government.

The Eureka Party supports the introduction of more whistleblower protections through the National Crime and Corruption Commission.

Abolish Digital ID

The myID (formerly called myGovID) Digital Identity service created by the Australian government is a Trojan horse for authoritarian drift and the mass surveillance of Australians in all spheres of life. Australians deserve privacy, security, and liberty.

The Eureka Party supports the abolition of myID and all forms of digital identity aimed at controlling and monitoring Australian citizens.

Contain ASIO

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) for too long has been unaccountable to public and parliamentary oversight targeting unjust surveillance of Australians.

The Eureka Party supports the stripping of powers from ASIO to grant only the minimum necessary domestic surveillance powers, their use conditional upon the granting of a judicial warrant.

Reduce the Voting Age to 16

Today, more young Australians are getting involved in politics before reaching the age of 18, yet remain unable to vote and have their say in the future of our great nation. And I believe if you’re old enough to work and contribute to the economy, and old enough to learn to drive, you should be allowed to have your say at the ballot box.

The Eureka Party supports the lowering of the voting age to 16, with optional voting for 16-17 year olds, while maintaining mandatory voting for Australians aged 18+.

Truth in Political Advertising

The Eureka Party supports legislation mandating that political advertising by any party or candidate must accurately reflect the stated policies and views of targeted opponents. This includes all forms of media used, including print, billboard, TV, radio, or online advertising, with parties or candidates which mislead voters about opponents being subject to fines, defamation proceedings on behalf of affected parties or candidates, or even advertising bans.

Ban All Political Donations

The Eureka Party supports a total ban on all donations to political parties or candidates, and having all election campaigns be fully funded by the state, with generous and standardised grants provided by the Australian Electoral Commission directly to parties and candidates, regardless of party affiliation or lack thereof, dependent only upon candidate nomination.

Citizen Connect Platform – E-Democracy

The Eureka Party supports the development of a national e-democracy platform by the name of Citizen Connect, for the purpose of operationalising the direct democracy proposals proposed for a new constitution, including recall, dissolution, and veto petitions, as well as permitting easier contact with elected representatives, streaming live and archived parliamentary proceedings, tracking parliamentary voting records, and reading bills with voter-accessible summaries.

This proposed platform will be built with personal privacy and security in mind, integrating modern privacy features like Zero-Knowledge Proofs for authentication and end-to-end encryption for text, voice and video calls with representatives. For those who are not tech savvy or need assistance, like the elderly and disabled, we aim to set up specialised Citizen Connect stations in every Australia Post office in the country, for citizens to present photo ID and gain access to the platform with assistance from staff.

The Eureka Party supports maintaining the current ballot paper system for voting in elections and on referenda, the most critical and sensitive decisions in our democracy, the Citizen Connect platform being for petitions and other features. Paper ballots have served us well for decades, don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Reduce the Salaries of Elected Officials

Our elected officials, who spend so much time appealing to wealthy interests rather than acting in the interests of constituents, are earning far too much for too little real action.

The Eureka Party supports reducing all salaries for elected officials to a level equivalent to a living wage. No more raking in the big bucks while selling our nation out to foreign interests and multinational corporations.
