Repeal the National Firearms Agreement

The Howard Coalition government’s National Firearms Agreement to many represented a needed change after the Port Arthur massacre. However, an armed populace is the ultimate deterrent against state tyranny and external invasion. Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. Australia has never shared America’s rabid gun culture, nor do we have a powerful pro-gun lobby limiting restrictions where necessary for public safety.

The Eureka Party supports repealing the National Firearms Agreement, with restrictions on gun licensing limited to those deemed psychologically unsuitable to be wielding a firearm or who have been found guilty of a violent crime, and with a regular review on license holders to ensure continued suitability.

Free Firearms Training Centres

The Eureka Party supports the establishment of free, state-funded firearms discipline and training centres across the country, operated by the Australian Army.

Castle Law

The Eureka Party supports the legislation of Castle Law, to ensure that Australians can defend their homes and families from hopeful home invaders and criminals.
